Matt Wright of Wrights Auto Supplies on Triumph Motor Cycle Supplied by Magpie Motorcycles and Malcolm Vaughan International Trade Advisor in a Jaguar E-Type supplied by Walter Wright both regular customers of Wrights Auto Supplies.

Classic and kit car enthusiasts around the world are helping a Coventry firm drive to success.

Wrights Auto Supplies, based in Portway Close, Torrington Avenue, Tile Hill, specialises in quality fixings, fastenings and tools for classic cars, kit cars and motorbikes - and is now exporting across Europe and the world

The firm recently exhibited at a Techno Classica Show in Germany thanks to support received from the International Trade Team at Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce, and are now receiving plenty of new orders.

The small family-run company was formed in 1975 by Matt's father Dick Wright and originally focussed on wholesale distribution to large companies.

They sell stainless fixings and fastenings, assorted boxes and packs, brake fuel hoses and fittings, chemicals, and electrical wiring.

Matt Wright, Managing Director of Wrights Auto Supplies, said: “Our core business in recent years has diminished due to the changes in technology in car manufacture and maintenance

“I decided to change direction and, with our knowledge and contacts, felt we could still offer the same products but to a different market.”

The company has re-vamped its website and is now attracting an overseas audience of car enthusiasts thanks to its shop on popular auction website, eBay.

Matt added: “It was time to spread our wings and develop some of the interest we had received as a result of our changes.”

The website now lists more than 1,000 products which are all available for immediate dispatch and next-day delivery.

The company is now exporting to the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and the US, and Matt is also in talks with a potential distributor for the range in France.

Malcolm Vaughan, international trade advisor at Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce, said: “It is always good to see local companies building an international dimension to their business, particularly when they have the courage to take the plunge and exhibit overseas.”
